2010 NPT Review Conference and Nuclear Disarmament

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine and evaluate the outcome of the 2010 NPT review conference in the field of nuclear disarmament. The conference is generally thought of as successful because it adopted a final document including action plans agreed by consensus. However, in order to know whether it is truly a success or not, we have to examine the main issues on nuclear disarmament at the conference. The author concludes that many recommendations on nuclear disarmament are the same as in the 2000 review conference, but the finds some new developments, based on which we can work for ＂a world without nuclear weapons.
