| 抄録: | This pilot study of book-reading interactions examines differences in verbal interactions between a Japanese mother and an American mother. Both mothers interacted with their children by requesting and providing information. However, the American mother focused more on her son's reading development while the Japanese mother focused more on her son's emotions during book-reading. Although it is impossible to draw conclusions based on this small sample, this study suggests the possibility of exploring the cultural diversity of reading practices in homes with preschool aged children. |
