| 抄録: | This paper reports on a seminar sponsored by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Japanese Ministry of Education, and the University of Tokyo on the future of universities that was held December 2003. First, it will briefly describe what the OECD is, focusing on its work in education. Next, it will look at issues facing higher education in Japan such as falling demographics, the overexpansion of universities, university reforms, and changing business expectations as to what higher education should do. Finally, this paper will present a brief synopsis of the seminar. |
